Joseph was excited all day. Whenever he saw me this morning he would say, "Happy Birthday to you, Daddy!" When I walked in the door from work, he bounced into view shouting, "Yea! Eat birthday cake and blow candles!" and was greatly disappointed that we had to eat dinner first. But soon enough he had his chance to lead the singing and moisten the already moist dark chocolate and almond cake that Gina made for me. There's nothing like the sizzling noise that saliva and candles produce. Today was a low-key day that I mostly spent working on my 2nd year exam oral presentation that I will give Monday afternoon. However, I also had opportunities to think about cubic numbers and phase transitions. I definitely like my job. But more importantly, I love my family.
