This morning my snorkeling partner had something come up so I decided to go alone. The beach was empty and the waves were small. As I waded out through the surf, I could see leopard sharks swimming across the waves as they crested. After I got my mask on, I saw assorted guitarfish, leopard sharks, sting rays, and an occasional halibut. The bat rays were especially active, flapping everywhere like underwater flocks of birds. All I could hear was my steady breathing.
