Some things the boys have been up to

It's been a busy spring; here are a few things the boys have been up to.

Building forts/tanks.

Making weapons out of various non-weapon toys.

Having a good time with Benjamin.

Playing with gumdrops and toothpicks.

Legos. Of course.

Winning second place in the district pinewood derby. Go Joseph! (This also means Joseph started cub scouts, which he loves, and so far I do too.)

Having a great time on Joseph's Destination Imagination team. There is a family history of participating in the program, formerly known as Olympics of the Mind; I myself was part of the legendary "Burger and Fries" superhero skit at the moderately more successful "Cartoon Switcheroo" team back in the day. Joseph loved the whole experience. The coaches are under strict orders to offer no real assistance to the kids as they prepare a skit; to the credit of Joseph's coach, I think he actually resisted the almost irresistible urge to help the kids along towards something perhaps a bit more coherent. As it was, it involved a donut-eating police officer, a little old lady who needed to cross the street, a clown, and a cane. The rest was a little hard to follow. But it was fun! And the judges said very kind things like "It looks like you really enjoyed yourselves!"
