The first few days that we were in Vancouver, my parents came to visit us and explore the area with us, and a few days later my sister Laura and her boyfriend Joe joined us. Of course badminton was involved.
One afternoon we visited Lynn Canyon, right in the neighborhood of the home where we were staying, for a lovely hike along a stream and over a suspension bridge. And that evening a few of us went to a string quartet concert at the local library.
The next day we spent in and around Stanley Park, the gorgeous, huge park right next to downtown Vancouver. We rented bikes and rode along the seawall, and for part of the day Laura and Joe went to the Aquarium while the rest of us hung around a playground.
That night we went to the Chinatown market because I thought it sounded like a good idea. It wasn't. Turns out historic Chinatown is not really where most of the Asian immigrants live in the region, and is actually a pretty run down part of town. We did find a great little dim sum place and got some good food. At the actual market, though, we browsed through the vendors selling cheap junk, got some fried squid and perogies (I know Poland isn't traditionally considered part of Asia, but whatever) and headed home.
The last day together we ate at the incredible Father's Day buffet at my parents' hotel and then happened upon a model airplane airshow at a nearby park that we enjoyed for awhile. It was a nice time to be together!
