The end of school

And finally, it was the end of the school year. It was a good school year, and the last year that the boys will all be at the same school. I feel so much gratitude to the teachers who are so good and loving and supportive of my children. (As I write this at the end of summer vacation, I feel even more gratitude for them...)

Joseph finished fourth grade, which is the end of elementary school here, so there was a nice graduation ceremony for his class and he got a fancy academic award.

Here he is with one of his teachers, Mrs. Lord, who brings so much great energy to her teaching. She writes sings songs about what she is teaching and has high expectations and loves science, and Joseph loved her.

Caleb finished second grade, with his wonderful teacher Mrs. Miller, who is also our neighbor. She challenged him from day one. On her facebook this sweet woman said this year was her "most challenging year yet", and knowing Caleb and other kids in her class I believe it. But she made every day a positive one. We all appreciated her so much.

Isaac finished kindergarten with wonderful Mrs. Cole. She also went out of her way to challenge Isaac and really payed attention to his needs. She pushed him when he needed it and stepped back when he needed it. He had a great year.

Kindergarten also had a little graduation ceremony. Each child got to say what they wanted to be when they grew up. Isaac is aiming for professional soccer player. There were two children who wanted to be New England Patriots, which met with polite but awkward applause. It was a big relief when someone finally wanted to be a Denver Bronco and the audience could really offer unrestrained approval.
