Trip to Georgia

Last weekend we took a trip down to Georgia to visit Nephi's brother Aaron and his family, and we had such a nice time! I think the best part was that the cousins got to know each other better:

And there was lots of variety of fun things to do; lots of "girl" things to play:

and "boy" things to play:

The home they built a few years ago is in a rural part of northern Georgia so they've got lots of lovely, fun land to explore. We were impressed with Bethany's huge garden:

and the boys even got to drive a lawnmower with Uncle Aaron!

Saturday we headed over to a state park with a little beach on a lake and had a fun afternoon cooling off:

The Thompsons even had a canoe we brought along on the top of our van:

After swimming we went on a little kid-friendly hike to a very pretty lookout. This was the best we could manage after quite a bit of drama for a family picture:

Sunday we enjoyed going to church and spending the day together, and Monday we headed back home. We stopped at the Knoxville Zoo to break the trip up a little and the boys were very excited. In the same way that they don't seem to have any preference for La Jolla beaches over some little lake with gritty sand, smaller zoos like this seem to do the job just as well as the San Diego Zoo for satisfying the boys. And these zoos are smaller and easier on the parents to visit, and we get in free with our membership to the children's museum in Dayton.

There was a very fun play area where we ended our visit:

Thanks, Aaron and Bethany, for being such lovely hosts and welcoming us into your home. We had a wonderful time!

*coughs* Guess who ELSE lives in Georgia? *coughs*

It looks like you all had a lot of fun! It's great that the cousins got to connect with one another, and you all got to visit with family.
