The Pufferfish Tidepool
A short walk from our apartment in Kapoho was a geothermally heated tidepool with some terrific snorkelling. (Note: not our place in the background there.)
We called it the pufferfish tide pool because right next to it was a pool with an enormous captive pufferfish, and lots of other great fish that we fed our papaya that we didn't want to eat.
Look how adorable Isaac is in his goggles and life jacket.
There were turtles in the water. One spectacular day there was a turtle that had to have been about six feet long just grazing along the bottom. Another day one scared the heck out of my by swimming up alongside me, not six inches from my head. We also saw a large coronet fish. Once our neighbors showed us how to get here, we went back again and again. Good times.
